NTCC opens disc golf course

Northeast Texas Community College recently completed construction on a new nine-hole disc golf course on the main campus. It is free to use and open to the general public.
The course is located on the east side of the campus and the first tee box is located between the new Student Housing East building and the back of the Eagles Softball field.
Upward Bound team named Fittest Employees for June

Jackson finishes 10th at CNFR
† † † Dustin Jackson, a team roping header from Northeast Texas Community College, finished the 2011-2012 season at 10th in the nation last week at the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyoming.
† † † Jackson was partnered with heeler Corey Hendrick of Wharton County Junior College. The team missed their final steer in the short round, dashing their hopes of a higher finish.

† † † The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles Rodeo Team is making a great showing at the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyoming this week.
† † † After the first three go-rounds, NTCC's Dustin Jackson has secured a spot in the short round and is currently in fourth place in average for Team Roping (header).

Jerald and Mary Lou Mowery give $5,000 for Whatley Campaign
Jerald and Mary Lou Mowery of Mount Vernon recently pledged $5,000 to benefit the Northeast Texas Community College Campaign for the Whatley. They are pictured presenting the gift (center) to Carolyn Franks, Director of the Whatley Center (right) and Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Vice President for Advancement (left). Their gift will be used to help make much-needed renovations to the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts.
Pittsburg Hanson-Sewell Center offers variety of classes for fall
Want to save gas while working toward your college education?† The Northeast Texas Community College Hanson-Sewell Center in Pittsburg will offer a variety of courses during the fall 2012 semester.††Some classes are offered in a 16-week††semester format; ohers in a hybrid format , running either eight or five weeks.†
Student proves that it is never to late to learn

Like many young people, Curtis Ivory dropped out of Pittsburg High School in 1996 with the best of intentions. His girlfriend (now wife) was pregnant with their first child and it was up to him to get a job to support his growing family.
Shelby fans gather at NTCC for memorial event
† † † †Car enthusiasts from near and far gathered at Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) Wednesday night to say goodbye to automotive legend Carroll Shelby.
† † † † The event was hosted by NTCC in conjunction with Team Shelby Texas. The evening began with car lovers gathering on the north side of Mount Pleasant for a memorial run.
