Northeast Texas Community College has been awarded a loss prevention grant of $4,000 from the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Risk Management Fund. Grant monies help implement loss prevention and safety initiatives to raise awareness of safety issues and reduce potential for property losses and on-the-job injuries.

Northeast Texas Community College will host the NJCAA Region XIV Baseball Tournament May 12-16 at Eagle Field. The top eight teams from Region XIV will compete for the chance to play in the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction Colorado later this summer.

The NTCC Eagles enter the tournament as the top seed in the Eastern Zone of the region with a 26-10 record. The Navarro College Bulldogs earned the second spot in the zone with a 24-12 record.

The Northeast Texas Community College Classified Staff Organization recently donated $200 to benefit Relay for Life in memory of Joe Bernat. The fifth-annual McGraw Hill Poster Contest was held on April 27 at the†Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at†Northeast Texas Community College.

This competition gives NTCC students and local high school seniors an opportunity to present their unique ideas and research.

The Northeast Texas Community College Adult Education program will hold its annual commencement ceremony for students who received their General Education Development†(GED) diploma during the 2011-2012 school year on Thursday, May 10. The ceremony will be held at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the NTCC campus at 7 p.m. Family and friends of graduates are encouraged to attend.
