NTCC to host annual handicapped, kids' rodeos
Northeast Texas Community College will host its annual Kids? Rodeo on Wednesday, April 18 at noon at the†NTCC Rodeo Area. In addition, The†NTCC†Rodeo Team and Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) will sponsor the third annual†NTCC†Handicapped Rodeo at 10 a.m. on the same day.

PTA program has 100% pass rate for fourth straight year
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program at Northeast Texas Community†College recently learned that its graduating class of 2011 had a 100% pass rate on the†first attempt for its state licensure exams. According to program director†Nancy Wilson, this is the fourth year in a row that the program has had all†students pass on the first try.
?Typically, you will see a 100% pass rate of a graduating class every 5-8†years. I can honestly say that no other PTA school in Texas has accomplished something like this,?
Psi Beta inducts 19 new members
Northeast Texas Community College recently inducted 19 new members into Psi Beta, the national honor society in psychology for students at two-year colleges.

NTCC police academy offers police training for cadets with criminal justice degrees

The Northeast Police Academy at Northeast Texas Community College is offering a capstone course for prospective cadets who already hold an associate's or bachelor's degree in criminal justice and wish to become a certified peace officer.

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles baseball team moved into first place in the conference Saturday after sweeping a double-header at defending national champion Navarro College in Corsicana, 2-1 and 4-2.
The wins cap a streak that has seen the Eagles win 10 of 12 games in the second round of conference competition and 12 of their last 14 games overall.
The Eagles (24-9, 18-6) came into the weekend series in a tie with the Bulldogs but left Corsicana with a one-game lead in the Region XIV Eastern Zone standin

NTCC Adult Education student receives TALAE ESL Student Persistence Award
The Adult Education department at Northeast Texas Community College recently announced that ESL (English as Second Language) student Maria De La Luz Dominguez (pictured) of Mount Pleasant has received the Texas Association for Literacy and Adult Education (TALAE) ESL Student Persistence Award. This statewide honor is awarded to students who exhibit personal accountability and commitment to pursuing their education while maintaining their family and civic responsibilities. A award of $500 was given during the TALAE Awards Dinner in San Antonio earlier this month.
Ks 4 Kids Day at NTCC Friday, April 6
The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles baseball and softball teams will host a special Ks 4 Kids Day at the Ballpark on Fri., April 6. The evening will feature free baseball and softball minicamps for kids of all ages. The NTCC Eagles baseball team starts the second game of their doubleheader against Bossier Parrish at 5 p.m. The softball camp gets underway at 5:30 p.m.
Two NTCC students receive national scholarship honors

Two Northeast Texas Community College Presidential Scholars were recently awarded national scholarships through the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. Jessica Rogers and Isaac Griffin were named 2012 Coca-Cola Gold Scholars and will each receive a $1,500 scholarship.
