Theatre Northeast presents Love Letters March 2-4

Boy meets girl. Girl writes boy. Girl and Boy correspond throughout their lives. That more or less sums up the romantic comedy,†Love Letters, by A. R. Gurney, to be presented by Theatre Northeast on March 2-4 at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the Northeast Texas Community College campus.

Friday and Saturday (March 2 and 3) shows begin at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday, March 3 performance will be at 2:05 p.m.†Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 age 17 and under and $3 for senior citizens, NTCC faculty and staff.

187 Pittsburg students visit NTCC

The Northeast Texas Community College Agriculture program recently hosted 187 sixth-grade students from Pittsburg ISD. The students spent the morning touring the Elizabeth Hoggatt Whatley Agriculture Complex and the rest of the NTCC campus. NTCC now offers online requests for official transcripts



Northeast Texas Community College office recently announced that students may now request official transcripts online through the NTCC Campus Connect system.




While students have been able to print unofficial transcripts for some time, official transcripts still required a written request until now. The new system allows students to log into their Campus Connect account via the myEagle portal (at ntcc.edu) and complete this process online.

Carolyn Pope receives Adult Education Teacher of the Year Award

The Adult Education department at Northeast Texas Community College recently announced that GED (General Education Development) and ESL (English as a Second Language) instructor Carolyn Pope of Mount Pleasant has received the Texas Association for Literacy and Adult Education (TALAE) Adult Education Teacher of the Year Award. Pope, who has taught adult education with NTCC since 1990, was nominated for this honor by colleagues and students.

NTCC Adult Education student receives TALAE ESL Student Persistence Award

The Adult Education department at Northeast Texas Community College recently announced that ESL (English as Second Language) student Maria De La Luz Dominguez (pictured) of Mount Pleasant has received the Texas Association for Literacy and Adult Education (TALAE) ESL Student Persistence Award. This statewide honor is awarded to students who exhibit personal accountability and commitment to pursuing their education while maintaining their family and civic responsibilities. A award of $500 was given during the TALAE Awards Dinner in San Antonio earlier this month.

Eagles softball wins one, drops one to Connors State

The Eagles softball team moved to 3-7 Saturday as they picked up a split in a double header with visiting Connors State.

With both teams battling frigid temperatures, it was the Eagles that came away with a 3-2 victory in game one.

The Eagles took advantage of their three hits to score their three runs in the contest and held off the Cowgirls late to get the win.

The Cowgirls grabbed a quick lead in the top of the second inning on a fielder?s choice play with the bases loaded but the Eagles answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Eagles baseball team splits at Weatherford

The Eagles baseball team moved its record to 3-3 Tuesday as the squad split a double-header at Weatherford College.

It took extra-inning heroics for the Eagles to pick up a win in game one as Matt Durst drove in the game-winning runs with a two-RBI single in the top of the eighth inning to secure a 3-1 victory.

A pitcher?s duel throughout, Weatherford took the lead in the bottom of the second inning with a sacrifice fly by Cody Semier.
