Weekly baseball update

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles (NTCC) baseball team dropped their conference series against Panola College this past weekend.

Panola kicked off the first game in the series with a run in the top of the first which was answered in the bottom by Jason Jones. Panola scored again in the second and third before a passed ball put Austin Griffin and Connor Hall in position to even the score. Neither team was able to put any more runs on the board until the ninth when Panola added one to defeat the Eagles 4-3.

Second annual Edible Book Contest scheduled for April 1

The Northeast Texas Community College Learning Resource Center (LRC) and Culinary Arts School will host their second annual Edible Book Contest on Tuesday, April 1. This event challenges participants to depict a favorite book through edible art. The contest is open to the general public and all experience levels are welcome.

Contest entry forms are available online at www.ntcc.edu/ediblebooks. These should be returned to the LRC by Monday, March 31. While there is no cost to enter, late entries (day of) will be charged a fee of $2.

NTCC Agriculture to host Spring Ag Fest

Where does your food come from?

If you're like many Americans, the answer is the grocery store. In fact, the grocery store is not where our food comes from, just from where it's distributed. Unfortunately, far too many people are unaware of the role of American agriculture has in their daily lives . . . and what it really takes to have food on their dinner table.

Just a few generations ago, most people were a part of, and had friends or relatives directly involved with, agriculture. Today, that is no longer the case.

NTCC to host job fair March 27

Northeast Texas Community College will host a job fair on Thursday, March†27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union Building (SUB) on the main†NTCC campus. The event is free to the public. More than a dozen local and†regional employers will be in attendance.

NTCC plans travel-study course to Caddo Lake

The Northeast Texas Community College Hanson-Sewell Center in Pittsburg is hosting an exciting travel-study opportunity this spring. The day trip, which will include a tour of Caddo Lake, lunch at Big Pine lodge and a stroll in downtown Jefferson, TX, is scheduled for Thursday, April †17.


† † † †A chartered bus will leave the Hanson-Sewell Center (237 College Street in Pittsburg) at 10 a.m. The group will enjoy lunch at the Big Pines Lodge and Watering Hole in Karnack before heading to Caddo Lake.

Fine Arts Club of Mount Pleasant gives scholarship

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a $500 gift to benefit a student majoring in fine arts. Priority scholarship deadline set for March 31



Need help paying for college? The priority deadline to apply for a Northeast Texas Community College Foundation scholarship for the Fall 2014 semester is Monday, March 31 at 5 p.m. Applications can be picked up with Lori Hunter in the Administration Building or a copy can be downloaded at www.ntcc.edu/financialaid (choose Scholarship Information button in left menu).




NTCC Foundation scholarships come from a variety of sources including individuals, families, businesses and civic clubs.
