NTCC mourns the loss of longtime board member Dr. Dan McCauley

NTCC extends its sincerest condolences to the family of Dr. Dan McCauley, who passed away on September 11, 2024.

Dr. McCauley served on the NTCC Board of Trustees faithfully for 36 years, with much of that time spent as Chairman of the Board. He was instrumental in many of the college's major milestones.

He established the Dr. Dan McCauley Visual Arts Scholarship in 1994 and it remains active today. Thanks to his contributions, many students have been able to pursue their dream of a college education.

Five NTCC students named as 2024 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise

Khadijah Anderson, Sarah Dierflinger, Alison Majors, Miriam Simmons, and Mary-Faith Wilson were recently recognized nationally as “Leaders of Promise.” Nearly 1,500 students applied, 200 were selected, and 5 of those winners came from Northeast Texas Community College. Each will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Skylar Hodson wins Russell-Mowery Perpetual Honors Scholarship

Skylar Hodson, the recent winner of the most prestigious award of Phi Theta Kappa in Texas, the Dr. Mary Hood Award, has also become the fourth winner of the Russell-Mowery Perpetual Honors Scholarship. This annual $500 award goes to an honors student who has made significant contributions to Northeast Texas culture and life.

Eagles Softball welcomes new assistant coach to the nest

Northeast Texas Community College Athletics would like to welcome Taniece Tyson to the staff.

Taniece will join Head Coach Haley Colwell as part of the NTCC Eagles Softball program. Coach Tyson started her collegiate career at McNeese State University from 2019-2021. While at McNeese she played in 14 games and made five starts as a Cowgirl.

Choctaw Nation visits NTCC to share tribal stories through social dances

On Monday October 7, at 12:30 the Choctaw Nation’s Cultural Outreach program will be coming to the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the NTCC campus. Tribal members will share stories and the dances that tell those stories in the Whatley’s large foyer. Some of those dances will be interactive, and the entire presentation is sure to be engaging and entertaining.

NTCC’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter will be hosting the performers as part of their exploration of regional folklore and stories. The event is free to attend and the public is welcome.

Two graduate from Professional Driving Academy

The Northeast Texas Community College Professional Driving Academy continues to grow and supply high-demand CDL drivers to the local area. Two new students recently graduated from the program. NTCC adds new assistant soccer coaches

Abbie Rutledge and Dillon Williams joined Coach Jon Evan's staff at NTCC in August of 2024. 

Rutledge came to Mount Pleasant after serving as a student assistant at her Alma Mater LSUS in the spring of 2024 as well as a club role coaching with CABOSA. Rutledge will serve as assistant to both the men's and women's programs and will play a significant role in strength and conditioning and will be involved in all aspects of both teams.
