San Jacinto remains undefeated

The NJCAA Region XIV Baseball Tournament continued with its pattern of long, extra-inning ballgames on Wednesday night as San Jacinto College beat Galveston College 6-5 in 16 innings.

San Jacinto remains the only undefeated team in the tournament. Galveston will play Navarro at 1 p.m. on Thursday (game 13) in order to try to earn the chance for a re-match with San Jacinto at 5 p.m.

San Jacinto started off strong, putting three runs on the board in the bottom of the first.

Navarro eliminates Texarkana in the battle of the Bulldogs

Navarro College dashed the tournament hopes of Texarkana College 2-1in game nine of the NJCAA Region XIV Baseball Tournament on Wednesday in the battle of the Bulldogs.

Navarro will play again Wednesday at 8 p.m. against the winner of the Alvin vs. Blinn match up.

No runs were scored in the first inning. Navarro started things off when they scored a single run in the top of the second.

Galveston beats Blinn in 13 innings

The Galveston College Whitecaps managed to remain undefeated in the Region XIV Baseball tournament as they defeated Blinn College 2-1 in 13 late-night innings. This was the fourth game of the tourney to require extra innings. The game lasted around four hours and finally wrapped up around 2:30 a.m.

Galveston will move on to face San Jacinto on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in a fight to remain undefeated in the tournament. Blinn will face Alvin College at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Blinn got on the board first thing, scoring one in the top of the first.

San Jacinto College edged past Navarro College Tuesday night 7-6 in game seven of the NJCAA Region XIV Baseball Tournament at Northeast Texas Community College. Originally underway on Monday evening, the game was delayed until Tuesday night due to rain.

Weather issues plagued the game Tuesday as well, as strong intermittent lightning forced officials to call two more delays.

NTCC receives $202,785 to update medical technology

Northeast Texas Community College recently received a JET (Job and Education for Texans) 5 grant from the Texas State Comptroller's Office for $202,785. These funds will††will allow NTCC to purchase software for its†health programs, computers for each of its 12 dental hygiene operatories, new digital x-ray equipment, electronic dental record software, intraoral cameras and a panoramic digital x-ray system†. Tourney to resume at 5 p.m. Tuesday

Due to soggy field conditions, the Region† XIV Baseball Tournament has been pushed back until 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Game 7 (San Jacinto vs. Navarro) will be played at 5 p.m. and game 8 (Blinn vs. Galveston) will be played at 8 p.m.

Games 9-12 will be played on Wednesday and 13 and 14 on Thursday. The championship game will be played on Friday if necessary.

NTCC ends season with loss to Texarkana

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles baseball season came to an end Monday afternoon as the team lost 9-1 to Texarkana College in game six of the NJCAA Region XIV Tournament. The game ended after eight innings due to the NJCAA run rule.

Alvin eliminates Paris in extra innings

Day two of the NJCAA Region XIV Baseball Tournament started off with another close game on Monday as Alvin Community College beat Paris Junior College 8-7 in extra innings.

The loss eliminated Paris from the tournament and sent Alvin on to see day three. The Dolphins will face the loser of game eight ? which will either be Galveston or Blinn.

Alvin got on the board early, scoring one in the bottom of the first.
