Classified Staff Organization supports Relay for Life

Poster contest winners announced

The fifth-annual McGraw Hill Poster Contest was held on April 27 at the†Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at†Northeast Texas Community College.
This competition gives NTCC students and local high school seniors an opportunity to present their unique ideas and research.
NTCC Adult Education to hold GED commencement
The Northeast Texas Community College Adult Education program will hold its annual commencement ceremony for students who received their General Education Development†(GED) diploma during the 2011-2012 school year on Thursday, May 10. The ceremony will be held at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the NTCC campus at 7 p.m. Family and friends of graduates are encouraged to attend.
May 8 Reception to honor McCallum
Northeast Texas Community College will host a reception for Latrel McCallum on Tuesday, May 8 from 12-1 p.m. in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts foyer. The event will†honor†McCallum's 14 loyal years of service as a member of the NTCC Board of Trustees.† She retired from the board in April.

Bryan Hughes meet and greet planned for May 3
Northeast Texas Community College, the Mount Pleasant-Titus County Chamber of Commerce and the Daingerfield Chamber of Commerce invite the public to attend a meet and greet to introduce your new state representative, Bryan Hughes.
The event is free and will be held on Thursday, May 3 from 12-1 p.m. at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the NTCC campus. Remarks will be at 12:30 p.m.
Eagles sweep Navarro, clinch regular season title
The NTCC Eagles moved one step closer to the Junior College World Series Wednesday as they swept defending national champion Navarro to earn the regular season conference title.
A pair of outstanding pitching performances from starters Jordan Marah and Tanner Allgood, coupled with a strong defensive showing, carried the day as the Eagles defeated the visiting Bulldogs 3-1 and 2-0.
With the wins, the Eagles finish the regular season 26-10 in Region XIV Eastern Zone play and 33-14 overall.

Eagles battle Navarro for conference title Wednesday
The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles baseball team is hoping for †a large home crowd Wednesday†afternoon as they battle Navarro College for the Region XIV†Eastern Zone regular-season title.
The two teams enter Wednesday?s matchup in a virtual tie†atop the standings with an Eagle sweep earning NTCC the†title outright. While the games mark the end of the regular†season for the Eagles, the Bulldogs finish their season with†a pair of games at Paris Junior College Saturday.

ACE program celebrates Earth Day
Daingerfield Junior High students recently celebrated Earth Day by planting a tree on their campus. Robert Grant, Morris County Master Gardener (left) taught the students the importance of Earth Day, littering, recycling and reusing. The presentation was coordinated by the ACE (Afterschool Centers on Education) Program, which provides children with meaningful after school activities. ACE is a Texas Education Agency grant program that is administered through Northeast Texas Community College.
NTCC to host job fair May 1
Northeast Texas Community College will host a job fair on Tuesday, May 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union Building (SUB) on the main NTCC campus. The event is free to the public.†More than a dozen local and regional employers will be in attendance.
