NTCC holds May commencement
Northeast Texas Community College held its May 2014 commencement at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts Saturday, May 10. Due to the large number of graduates, commencement was held in two ceremonies at 9 and 11 a.m.††In the 9 a.m.†ceremony, NTCC awarded 3 Associate of Arts in Teaching degrees, 12 Associate of Arts degrees, and 106 Associate of Science degrees. During the second ceremony, 69†Associate of Applied Science Degrees and 107 Certificates of Competency were awarded.†Dr.
AARP Driver Course to be held at Hanson-Sewell Center
A Smart Driver Course, hosted by AARP, is scheduled for Thursday,† May 29 at 8:45 a.m. at the Northeast Texas Community College Hanson-Sewell Center in Pittsburg. †This newly-revised, four-hour course may qualify attendees for significant car insurance discounts with many auto insurance companies.† The course is designed for seniors 50 years and older, however, anyone may enroll.† Topics include common crash situations, driver safety strategies, new state laws, effects of aging on driving, and others. †Class size is limited and participants must call to enroll.

NTCC softball wins game one of regional tourney
The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles Softball team is one step closer to the world series this week as they picked up a win on day one of the Regional Tournament in Lufkin. Despite trailing early on, the Eagles managed to come back and beat Galveston College 3-2 Thursday.
Galveston jumped out to a quick lead, scoring two unanswered runs in the first four innings. Things started to turn around in the bottom of the fifth, when the Eagle defense managed a three-up-three-down inning.

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles (NTCC) baseball team took two of three in their series with Navarro College this past week helping to keep their playoff hopes alive.† The Eagles won the first game by a score of 2-1 and †dropped the second game 4-1 but fought back in the nightcap with a 9-4 victory.† Although the Eagles control their own destiny they must win their last three games.† Winning two of three would tie them for the last playoff spot but they would lose the tiebreaker due to their record against the team they are tied with.† All three games are against Angelina at home t

NTCC to hold GED commencement
The Northeast Texas Community College Adult Education program will hold its annual General Education Development (GED) commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 8 at 7 p.m. in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. All students who have completed the NTCC GED program during the past year will be honored. Friends and family of graduates are invited to attend. A brief reception will be held in the Whatley Center foyer after the commencement ceremony.
NTCC soccer player selected for Premier Development League this summer
Northeast Texas Community College Eagles Soccer player Rimario Gordon will compete in the Premier Development League (PDL) this summer. The PDL is run by the United Soccer League (USL) and is the highest level of amateur soccer in the United States. This will be the first time that a NTCC Student has been invited to compete in a professional development league.
The PDL is a highly competitive program with international reach which is designed to prepare students for professional soccer careers. The league has 64 teams competing in ten divisions across four conferences.
