Time is running out to get tickets for the first annual NTCC Rodeo alumni dinner and team fundraiser! The event will be held Saturday, April 9 at the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Arena Becky & Buddy McCollum Events Center & Pavilion. 

It will feature live music and dancing, silent auction, live auction, meet and greet with the current team, and catered barbecue dinner.

Save the date! The NTCC Theatre department is pleased to invite everyone to the upcoming Spring production. It’s an evening of short plays and will be held at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Performance dates are April 21, 22, and 23 at 7:30 pm with an additional matinee on Saturday, April 23 at 2:30 pm.

Dr. Kathy Eubanks has been chosen as the recipient of NTCC’s 2022 Adjunct Faculty Member of the year. This award is given by the Faculty Senate to award teaching excellence and in recognition of the adjunct faculty member’s education, talents, dedication and experience.

The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees met for its regular March meeting on Tuesday, March 29.  

The board approved cancelling the May election owing to the result that both candidates for Place 1 and Place 5 positions were uncontested. The new incoming members will be installed at the May meeting.

Hot off the presses! Three of your NTCC faculty members collaborated on a local history book, published by Arcadia Press. Get your copy off Amazon – OR come to Humanities 101 Community Room Thursday March 31 during the activity period, 12:20-1:30 and get a signed copy!  The authors will share some of their favorite anecdotes and stories from the project – such as battles with water moccasins to open up the road to Brookshires, the local female bank president who helped finance and manage the World’s Fair of 1904, the elaborate resort with red/white/blue mineral waters once located at Dellwood, and so much more!! 

NTCC is pleased to host the first annual Black History Celebration program by Frances Corprew Elementary students on Wednesday, March 30 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the SUB. Everyone is invited to attend!

Scholars of Honors Northeast, the honors program of Northeast Texas Community College, appeared recently for the thirteenth time at the annual meeting of the Great Plains Honors Council (GPHC).  In 2021, Northeast scholars also participated, but as it was a virtual meeting, only online.

The NTCC Computer Services department is pleased to announce that students can now request IT support via text message! Simply text 903-434-8140 with a message describing the nature of your question and it will automatically set up a support ticket. This is just one of many ways Computer Services is working to make it easier and more convenient to get the help you need. 

JKC semifinalists

     Three Northeast Texas Community College students learned they have been named semifinalists for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. Aaliyah Avellaneda, Jessie Parchman, and Hilda Rodriguez learned of the honor last week. This year’s 440 semifinalists were chosen from a pool of more than 1,200 applicants attending 180 community colleges in 35 states. Jack Kent Cooke winners, who receive scholarships of $55,000 per year for up to three years, will be announced in May.  Cooke Transfer Scholars are selected based on their exceptional academic ability and achievement, financial need, persistence, service, and leadership.
