The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees met for its regular March meeting on Tuesday, March 29.
The board approved cancelling the May election owing to the result that both candidates for Place 1 and Place 5 positions were uncontested. The new incoming members will be installed at the May meeting.
The board voted to raise the College’s tuition and fees by three dollars respectively, per credit hour, for the 2022-2023 academic year. The increase will go into effect beginning with the Summer 2022 session. The total cost of tuition and fees for a 12-hour full-time course load for an in-district student will go from $1,277 to $1,349.
“We did not raise tuition and fees for this current academic year in an effort to help students who may be struggling with the after effects of COVID. Unfortunately, inflationary concerns and a general increase in the cost of operations over the past two years has made it necessary for us to implement this increase for the upcoming year,” Dr. Ron Clinton, President, said.
In other action items, the board voted to nominate Russell East as a candidate for the Morris County Appraisal District Board of Directors. His name was presented by Sondra Fowler and the board unanimously agreed on the nomination.
The board approved the TASB Risk Management Fund Interlocal Participation Agreement. This is an update to the TASB terms of service that happens about every 10 years. This did not affect any of the college’s coverage associated with TASB. They also released the Director of Enterprise Systems and Assistant Director of Computer Services from their employment contracts. No executive session was called.
