The annual Texas Junior College Agriculture Association (TJCAA) conference and competition is always a much anticipated event for our NTCC Ag students as well as advisors. This year though we were especially excited to get things back to normal after a two year hiatus due to COVID. It is more of a celebration and appreciation of everything we are all so passionate about than the testing of the skills that we have all learned through our programs. Students from our Ag Club and other community colleges met in Abilene, TX at Abilene Christian University from April 13-15th to compete this year.

The Northeast Texas Community College Professional Driving Academy continues to grow and supply high-demand CDL drivers to the local area. Three new students recently graduated from the program. Members of the Northeast Texas Community College Business Club recently presented two $500 checks to the NTCC Foundation. The donation will provide two business students with a scholarship for the 2022-2023 academic year. Club

The NTCC Adult Education Department will be offering a FREE Fast Track citizenship prep class beginning May 10, 2022.
The classes will provide information on English and citizenship preparation, eligibility for naturalization, test-taking resources and strategies and individualized instruction as needed. Classes will be held at the Hanson-Sewell Center at 237 College Street in Pittsburg on Tuesdays and Thursdays May 10 through June 2 from 4:30-8:30 p.m. Registration is May 2-9 (by appointment).
The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation was the top fundraiser for East Texas Giving Day 2022. Finishing the night with $135,300, NTCC raised more than almost 300 nonprofits from across 32 East Texas Counties. NTCC also finished fifth place for the total number of donations with 140 gifts.
“We really just can’t thank everyone enough for their support. There are so many good causes that participate in East Texas Giving Day and the fact that so many chose to give to NTCC is humbling,” Nita May, NTCC Director of Development, said.
The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees held its regular April meeting on Tuesday, April 26. It marked the final meeting for trustee Frankie King, who is retiring from the board. King, of Camp County, joined the board in 2019.
Northeast Texas Community College is pleased to announce the hiring of two new Head Coaches for the Eagle Soccer Programs. After a few years stint as a combined position, the Women’s Team has hired Assistant Coach Heather Brady as the new Women’s Head Coach, and the Men’s team has hired Assistant Coach Juan “JD” Perales as the Men’s Head Coach. Both Coaches will assist the other with each team as well.
Jordan Chapin was recently named the winner of the 2022 Chitsey Award, granted each year to the student of Honors Northeast who after their first semester, most exceeded expectations. The award comes with a $200 check.
