The 2019 Kids Discovery College is well underway as they completed the first week of classes. From learning to bake to riding along in an ambulance, students have had a great time learning in a variety of fun, interactive classes! Kids Discovery College will continue through next week.

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College recently announced its 2019-2020 entertainment lineup. New season tickets sales begin August 1 and individual ticket sales begin Monday, Aug. 12.

Northeast Texas Community College will be closed on Thursday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Regular office hours will resume on Friday, July 5 (8 a.m. to noon). In case of an emergency on campus, please contact security at 903-563-1417.

The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees met for its regular June meeting on Tuesday, June 25.  Dr. Ron Clinton, NTCC President, reported that the first summer session is off to a great start. Between the Work4College Program (77 students), the Summer Success Program (110 students) and the Upward Bound Program (53 students), there is plenty of activity on campus.

The entire campus community is invited to attend this event that is being hosted by NTCC's Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Mu Chi chapter with support from SGA and the Student Activities Office. The student celebration will be July 1 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the campus plaza.

Quinones

Jacob Lambie, the Director of the upcoming Honors Northeast film, announced last Thursday that Maritza Quinones of Mount Pleasant will play the star role of Adina de Zavala, a Texas writer and preservationist.  Quinones, a recent graduate of Mount Pleasant, was one of fifteen area freshmen selected by the Honors Committee of Northeast Texas Community College this past May to enter the NTCC honors program.

Fast track GED flier

The Northeast Texas Community College Adult Education Department is offering free Fast Track GED classes this summer at the Hanson-Sewell Center in Pittsburg. Classes will be held July 9 through 30 with both morning and evening options. Register now through July 3 by calling 903-434-8341. 

Trip to boston

This summer students and faculty had the opportunity to visit one of America’s oldest and most historic cities as part of the Northeast Texas Community College travel study course. Students toured historical sites and did some sightseeing all while earning college credit toward history, government, English and art courses.
