Theatre Northeast, the Northeast Texas Community College student theatre group, will present a showcase of dramatic readings, monologues and three short plays April 25-27 at 7:30 p.m. and April 28 at 2:05 p.m.
Jordan Martinez followed his seven for eight performance at the plate in the last two outings with a dominate showing on the mound on Thursday for Northeast Texas Community College baseball (12-22, 6-13). He allowed only two hits and zero runs while striking out five to beat Panola College (28-10, 13-6) by a score of 10-0.
Alpha Mu Chi, Northeast Texas Community College’s chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, successfully campaigned for the Texas Region District III Vice-President position at the regional convention earlier this spring. After the chapter won the position, Jacob Lambie was chosen to represent the chapter as Vice President.
Students and faculty from the Northeast Texas Community College Agriculture Department recently attended the Texas Junior College Agriculture Association (TJCAA) conference at Texas A&M University College Station. In addition to attending a variety of sessions on trending agriculture topics, students also competed in competitions against other community college students from across the state.
For the fourth year, history at NTCC will feature the Bonnie Spencer Awards for the best two research papers in non-honors classes. The first-place winner will receive $100, and the second place, $50. There will be an optional Honorable Mention Prize.
Jerald and Mary Lou Mowery recently presented the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation with a check for $500 to preschedule a gift for East Texas Giving Day.
Christi Denney recently presented the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation with $1,500 to support the Nita DeWoody Memorial Scholarship fund. The money was raised through the Jingle Bell Jog (5K) held last December in Pittsburg, which Denney organized in memory of her late sister, DeWoody.
The Northeast Texas Community College rodeo team traveled to Hillsboro to compete in the NIRA Southern Region Rodeo hosted by Hill College on April 5-6.
The Northeast Texas Community College (9-21, 4-10) Eagles softball team traveled to Tyler Junior College (39-5, 14-0) for a doubleheader contest on Friday. Ranked third in the nation by the NJCAA, the TJC Apaches took the opening game by a score of 8-2 and won game two 11-4.
The Northeast Texas Community College (10-20, 5-11) Eagles baseball team traveled to Bossier Parish Community College (20-13, 6-10) Friday to start the second round of conference play. BPCC defeated the Eagles 7-4 to take game one of the three game series. The final two games were scheduled to be played at NTCC on Saturday, but rain forced a change of venue to Paris Chism High school’s turf field on Sunday. BPCC took games two and three by a score of 4-3 in game two and 7-4 in game three.
