Northeast Texas Community College recently celebrated its annual employee Christmas luncheon and honored employees who have reached service milestones. In addition, they also celebrated the retirement of Beverly Austin, SBDC Business Advisor.
Northeast Texas Community College inducted a total of 22 new members into the Alpha Mu Chi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa on November 15 in the Whatley Auditorium foyer. A total of 71 attendees and their guests celebrated the occasion with a dinner featuring chicken parmesan as the main entrée and the PTK chapter’s trademark chocolate fountain for dessert.
The NTCC Foundation is happy to announce that 10 NTCC employees have been awarded funds through the 2019-2020 Whatley Employee Enhancement Grant. The Foundation received 18 outstanding applications. Five were funded by the grant and five received funded by private donations or other funds. The total for all funded projects was $19,368.99. The Whatley Employee Enhancement Grant was established by James & Elizabeth Whatley specifically to fund special projects and enhance educational opportunities that fall outside the institution’s regular budget. Each year, NTCC full-time employees may apply for the approximately $8,500 available. Projects are reviewed and selected by the volunteer members of the Whatley Employee Enhancement Committee.
The honors students and program at Northeast Texas Community College, local students in need, and Franklin county students have benefitted enormously from the philanthropic handiwork of “Santa’s Sweeties.” This is their story.

The Hit Men will perform at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the Northeast Texas Community College Campus on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m. They will bring their red-hot holiday show, Rock ‘n Roll + Christmas Classics to the Whatley stage just in time to get your ready for the holiday season!
The Northeast Texas Community College campus will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Nov. 29 to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. Offices and classes will resume a normal schedule on Monday, Dec. 2.
The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation held its annual Golf Classic on November 18 at Daingerfield Country Club in Daingerfield. The tournament raised more than $14,000 to support the NTCC Work Scholarship Program.
Northeast Texas Community College Medical Assistant students recently gave back to the community by helping to feed those who have served our country at a special Veteran’s Day event at PE Wallace Middle School in Mount Pleasant. This is just one of many activities Medical Assistant (MA) students participate in outside of the classroom. The program is currently accepting applications for the spring semester.
