NTCC parking permits to be enforced

For the safety and security of NTCC, all students, faculty and staff are required to display a parking permit on their vehicle while on campus. Security officers will enforce this by issuing warnings beginning September 4. Citations with fines will follow the warning period. Parking permits are FREE. Student permits are issued in the Student Services building and employees can pick them up from the Human Resources department. Thank you for helping us keep our campus safe for everyone!

Lilly Haack wins $5,000 Pearson Scholarship for Higher Education

Northeast Texas Community College student Lilly Haack is one of ten students nationwide selected to receive the 2018 Pearson Scholarship for Higher Education, a $5,000 award. The Pearson Scholarship for Higher Education is awarded to Phi Theta Kappa members who are civically engaged in their community through service and who demonstrate leadership, academic rigor, and excellence. Preference is given to first-generation college students.

NTCC Art to host exhibit featuring the art of Steven Barker

The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department will host its first exhibit of the 2018-2019 school year September 7-26 in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. A collection of drawings and watercolors by Steven Barker will be on display for public viewing during this time. A reception with the artist will be held Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 12:30 p.m. in the Whatley foyer.

NTCC Student Services to extend hours Aug. 20-23

In order to better serve students as the new semester approaches, Northeast Texas Community College Student Services will offer extended business hours Monday, Aug. 20 through Thursday, Aug 23. They will be open an extra hour, from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Students will be able to meet with advisors to register for classes, speak with financial aid representatives, make payments and more. “We realize that many of our students have work and other obligations that make it difficult for them to come out here during regular business hours.

Jazmin Garcia Named 2018 Dr. Mary Hood Texas Region Scholar

Jazmin Garcia, a student at Northeast Texas Community College, has been named the 2018 Dr. Mary Hood Texas Region Scholar and will receive a $1,500 scholarship. Garcia is a first-generation college student majoring in biomedical science.  She serves as the Vice President of Scholarship for her local Phi Theta Kappa chapter and holds the Chair of Service officer position for her college’s Biochem Club.  After being diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder in high school, she became interested in medical research, which has inspired her to study immunology.
