The Bronx Wanderers to perform at Whatley Center

The Bronx Wanderers are "One Part Oldies, Two Parts Rock N? Roll" and they are headed to northeast Texas to shake up the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts! The group will perform on the campus of Northeast Texas Community College on†Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m.

The Bronx Wanderers are†the†?perfect musical storm?, effortlessly creating the perfect level of synergy between generations and the music, the family and the rockin? band that pulls it all together.

Culinary Arts Buffet Oct. 3

The Northeast Texas Community College Culinary Arts Program will host the second of three special Buffet Nights this Thursday at the NTCC Culinary Institute (?Our Place?) in historic downtown Pittsburg.

Dinners †are open to the public and will be held†from 6:00-7:30 p.m.†on October 3 and October 17. Seating is restaurant-style and to-go orders will be available by calling ahead to†903-434-8333†The cost is $10 per person.

NTCC hosts 26th annual Scare Affair

It's time to put on your best Halloween costume, dust off your trick-or-treat basket and head out to Northeast Texas Community College for the†26th†annual Scare Affair.

The event is from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct.†19th†on the plaza of the main NTCC campus (located on FM 1735 near Chapel Hill ISD). There will be free candy for all trick-or-treaters, low-cost games for all ages, a costume contest with cash prizes and much more! A haunted house will be open until 10:30 p.m.

Wilson gives $10,000 to fund NTCC scholarship

Mr. Gilbert Wilson (left), of Pittsburg, recently gave $10,000 to the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation. Dr. Jonathan McCullough (right), NTCC Vice President for Advancement, is pictured receiving the donation. The gift will fund the Wilson Family Scholarship, which is named in memory of Mr. Wilson's parents. The perpetual scholarship will provide deserving NTCC students with one $500 scholarship each year. New goat project added to NTCC Farm

The early 1990?s saw the import of a new breed of goat to the U.S.†The Boer (the Angus Cattle of the goat industry), has quickly grown to become a viable option for small farmers in Texas to diversify their operations and become more sustainable.† Unfortunately, due to the newness of the industry and few sources for research-based information on care and handling of the meat goat breed, many producers that have invested their time and money into starting operations that have been anything but sustainable.

Free GED classes offered in Naples

The Adult Education Department at Northeast Texas Community College is offering free General Education Development (GED) classes at the Naples Civic Center at 412 W.L. Doc Dodson Blvd (Hwy. 67 W). Students interested in attending classes must enroll in a 12-hour orientation.†The GED exam is changing in January 2014. At that time, all students seeking a GED will be required to complete the entire new test.

Northeast Texas Community College will host a job fair on Tuesday, September 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union Building (SUB) on the main NTCC campus. The event is free to the public.†More than a dozen local and regional employers will be in attendance.
