Brenda Godoy wins two top national PTK scholarships

Brenda Godoy, a student at Northeast Texas Community College, has received two of the nation?s top scholarships recognizing outstanding academic achievement among college students. Godoy is one of 20 students to be named to the All?USA Academic Team and will receive a $5,000 scholarship. The All?USA program is widely recognized as the most prestigious academic honor for students attending associate degree-granting institutions.

Honors Northeast attends Webb Society meeting in San Marcos

Northeast Texas Community College was well represented at the recent meeting of the Texas Webb Society in San Marcos. Honors Northeast Scholars won two of the four freshman-sophomore division awards for scholarship.† Jazmin Garcia of Mount Pleasant placed third in the state, and won $150 for her essay on Texas First Lady, Mildred Moody.†Rhylie Anderson?s essay placed fourth.†She received $75 for her essay on the ?Politics of Futility,?

Eagle newspaper staff wins 47 awards at Texas Intercollegiate Press Association conference

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagle newspaper staff recently attended the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association (TIPA) conference at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Dallas. Students attended sessions on various journalism topics, participated in live contest events and attended the annual TIPA awards banquet.

NTCC won Overall Excellence Division 6 in both the newspaper and literary magazine categories. In total, the students won 47 awards, including several first-place awards for photography, writing and design.

J.T. and Kaye Brison sponsor The Bellamy Brothers at the Whatley Center

J.T. and Kaye Brison recently gave $3,000 to sponsor the upcoming performance of The Bellamy Brothers at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College. Tickets to the April 9th concert are still available at www.whatleycenter.com or by calling the box office at 903-434-8181. The cost is $30 for adults and $10 for students.
