The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College will host a concert by The East Texas Men In Harmony (ETMIH) on Saturday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m. Seating is limited due to social distancing protocols.

The NTCC Agriculture and Continuing Education departments are pleased to offer a Summertime On The Farm camp for kids ages 8-14. Campers will be learning how to care for chickens, goats, pigs, ducks, and more. Gardening, planting, and caring for flower beds will also be covered. Join us this summer as we learn how to "do life" on a real working farm!

Northeast Texas Community College, in partnership with the Mount Pleasant Economic Development Corporation (MPEDC), will host a Career and Training Expo on Friday, April 23. The event will be held at NTCC’s Industrial Technology Training Center (ITTC) in Mount Pleasant (westbound I-30 frontage road east of Lowes) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

Northeast Texas Community College started the second round of conference on Saturday, April 3 with a two-game series with Paris Junior College. After PJC defeated the Eagles in game one 19-1, NTCC bounced back for a 15-7 win in game two.

The Northeast Texas Community College Rodeo team put on a Rodeo for Titus County Elementary school children on Tuesday, April 6th. The student athletes from the NTCC Rodeo team held the event at the Mount Pleasant Priefert Arena located at the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Association complex on Greenhill Road.

Northeast Texas Community College made a trip to Lufkin, Texas to meet up with Wharton County Junior College in a double header contest Thursday, April 1st and came away with a win in game one 10-7 before falling to Wharton in game two.

Jerald and Mary Lou Mowery recently presented the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation with a check for $10,500. The gift provided $10,000 to establish the Russell-Mowery Perpetual Honors Scholarship and $500 for current honors scholarships. The pandemic had a way of delaying initiatives. But the 2020 issue of Touchstone, one of the most venerable undergraduate journals in the United States, finally has appeared in April, 2021. Published by the Texas State Historical Association, Touchstone has appeared continuously since 1982 in real form, and since the 1990s on high-quality cotton-stock paper, designed to last.

In addition to the Britt poster winners, Aaliyah Avellaneda, and Maritza Quinones highlighted last week in “What’s Happening at NTCC,” the college managed one of the more robust showings at the spring meeting of the 2021 Great Plains Honors Council.  The conference, hosted virtually by the Redwine Honors Program at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, featured qualifying students from universities and colleges in the area from Nebraska and Missouri down to Texas.  NTCC had fourteen students qualify in the college’s fourteenth year of participation, a record for the college.

The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department will hold its annual student art show Thursday, April 7 through Tuesday, May 4 in the foyer gallery of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts.
