Work4College receives $12,000 gift

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a $12,000 grant from an anonymous foundation to sponsor six students in the Work4College Program. An additional matching grant opportunity has effectively doubled the impact, resulting in a $24,000 contribution. This grant will be utilized to expand the reach of the Work4College Program. Filing open for two places on NTCC Board of Trustees

Filing for Place Four and Place Seven on the Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees began on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, and continues through 5 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2024. Filing applications are available from elections clerk Jimmy Smith in the NTCC Student Services Building from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Fridays.  The deadline for filing an application will be extended to 5:00 p.m.

Free GED, ESL classes start January 22nd

The Adult Education Department at Northeast Texas Community College is accepting new and returning students for its GED (General Educational Development) and ESL (English as a Second Language) programs. Those interested in participating in either of these free educational programs should call to make an appointment for registration beginning January 8, 2024.  While classes are offered in various convenient locations around the area, all registration will be held at the Community Resource Center (formerly MPISD Administration Building) at 105 N.

NTCC Board holds December meeting

The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees met for its regular December meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 19th at 5 p.m. Shirley Dickerson, Chief Appraiser with the Titus County Appraisal District, addressed the board for public comment. She presented Board Chair Chuck Johns with a check for $4,391 from TCAD. Dickerson said that the appraisal district maintains a zero balance budget and divides excess among its taxing entities, which includes NTCC.

Jerald and Mary Lou Mowery support Whatley Employee Enhancement Fund

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a $1,000 gift from Jerald and Mary Lou Mowery. They are pictured presenting the gift to Nita May (right), NTCC Director of Development. Their gift, along with donations from numerous other friends, provided a total $7,500 to fund deserving projects submitted to the annual Whatley Employee Enhancement Fund grant. Each year, NTCC employees submit applications for innovative projects that go above-and-beyond what can be funded with their departmental budgets. This year, $9,000 was awarded through the competitive grant.
