Backyard Bash planned for Sept. 4
The annual NTCC Backyard Bash will be held Wednesday, Sept. 4 from 6-10 p.m. at the NTCC Sports Complex. The event is FREE and open to all NTCC students, employees and local high school juniors and seniors. It will feature free food (sponsored by Great Western Dining), live entertainment by Assaint Music, games and a meet and greet with NTCC Eagles Athletes.

Speakers announced for Northeast Texas Poetry Reading

The annual Northeast Texas Poetry Reading on Friday, September 6 at 11 a.m. will again occur at the Foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the Northeast Texas Community College campus. The public is invited for this free event, the twelfth of its kind in as many years. This year in addition to six readings of the highest-ranked poems of the adult and student divisions, and a presentation of winning Northeast Texas images, two speakers will share their perceptions of our region.
Cypress Bank donates laptop to NTCC Honors student
For the twelfth-straight year since 2008, Cypress Bank has presented a high-end MacBook laptop for the use of Northeast Texas Community College honors students. This year’s Cypress Bank Scholar is Sam Josiah Griffin. He is the third son, and fifth child of Dr. Steven and Joy Griffin to have matriculated in the honors program at NTCC. Homeschooled in Pittsburg, Griffin has excelled in nineteen hours of classes at the college, and already as an entering freshman has served as a major contributor to the honors film on Adina de Zavala.
