LRC sponsors Edible Book Contest
The Learning Resource Center (LRC) at Northeast Texas Community College hosted the first annual Edible Book Contest Monday, April 1. There were a total of 16 entries in the contest, which challenged participants to depict a favorite book through edible art.†

CAPPED event brings high school seniors to NTCC
Communities In Schools (CIS) brought about 240 high school students to the Northeast Texas Community College campus on March 21†for CAPPED (Certificate and Professional Programs Exploration Day).†
CAPPED @ NTCC †is a program designed to bring high school students to NTCC to learn about programs available to expedite their entry into professional careers in the workplace.† It also allows NTCC faculty to showcase their programs.

Noah Griffin receives Caldwell Award for Texas History essay
At the recent Texas State Historical Association (TSHA) conference in Fort Worth, Northeast Texas Community College honors student Noah Griffin won first place in the Caldwell Award competition for the best essay in Texas History.† He received a $400 award for the honor, topping all peers in the college/university, freshman/sophomore level.† Steve Cure, the Director for Educational Services of the TSHA, remarked that there was an especially crowded field of entries this year.

Phi Theta Kappa presents report at March board meeting
Dr. Melissa Weinbrenner, advisor for the Northeast Texas Community College chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, presented a report to the NTCC board of trustees Tuesday night. She shared that NTCC's Alpha Mu Chi Chapter recently won 19 awards at the 2013 Texas Regional Convention in Dallas in addition being elected District III Vice President. J.T. and Kaye Brison sponsor As You Like It
J.T. and Kaye Brison recently presented a check to Carolyn Franks (right), Director of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College, to sponsor the upcoming performance of Shakespeare's†As You Like It. The national tour of the play, by the prestigious Acting Company of New York, will be presented one night only on Friday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center. Hoppock named Alumni Ambassador by Texas A&M-Commerce
Northeast Texas Community College Professor of Theatre and Speech, Douglas Hoppock, was recently named an Alumni Ambassador by Texas A&M University-Commerce for the 2013 Alumni Ambassador Forum.
Each year, departments at A&M-Commerce choose former students return to campus for this event. It is the highest honor a department can bestow upon its alumni.
