NTCC dental hygiene program provides low-cost services to community
† † †The fall semester is about to start at Northeast Texas Community College. This means that dental hygiene students will be back in the clinic providing low-cost services to the community as of August 27.
† † †A flat nominal fee of only $30 for adults and $15 for children, NTCC students, and NTCC employees is charged to receive dental hygiene services. These may include dental screenings, x-rays, teeth cleanings, fluoride applications, oral health education, and sealants.
Weinbrenner gives keynote address at Texas Honors Institute
Dr. Melissa Weinbrenner, Northeast Texas Community College Division Director of Social Sciences, Professor of History, and Phi Theta Kappa Advisor, gave the keynote address at the fourth General Session of the†at the 2013 Phi Theta Kappa Texas Honors Institute at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin.
Stephen Milburn receives honors award
Northeast Texas Community College Presidential Scholar Stephen Milburn is the 2013 winner of the $200 Elizabeth Chitsey Prize for improvement as an NTCC honors student.† Milburn graduated early from Mount Pleasant High School and improved his rank from Honors Scholar to Presidential Scholar after a semester in NTCC Honors. He has maintained a 3.9 GPA while taking 17 hours of honors credit.

Webster sworn in as NTCC board member
Jerry Webster (left), newly appointed board member for Northeast Texas Community College, is given his oath of office by Lt. Gov Bill Ratliff. †Webster is Market President of Pilgrim Bank, Pittsburg. He was appointed to fill Place†I†of the board of trustees in June after long-time member Jerry Massey retired.

SMART Girls Conference planned
Communities In Schools of Northeast Texas will host the annual SMART Girls Conference on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013 at Northeast Texas Community College. SMART Girls (Science, Math And Related Technology) provides girls between the ages of 11 and 15 access to dynamic women in SMART careers.
The keynote speaker will be Leslie Denman. She loves to motivate and empower women and girls. Denman openly shares her struggles, victories and faith with young girls to inspire them to Dream Big! She is a mentor to young people and an encourager to women.
