The Northeast Texas Community College Associate Degree Nursing program recently inducted 32 students into its Gamma Omicron Chapter of the Alpha Delta Nu Honor Society. Alpha Delta Nu recognizes the academic excellence of students in the study of Associate Degree Nursing. The selective society requires that students have at least a 3.0 GPA in nursing classes and be recommended by faculty. The 2018 inductees are pictured above (from left). NTCC Foundation raises $15,000 for East Texas Giving Day
Many thanks to everyone who supported the NTCC Foundation on East Texas Giving Day on April 24. Thanks to the generosity of friends and NTCC employees, more than 80 donations were received for a total of $14,647.19 during the event. Another generous donor gave after the deadline to make an even $15,000 raised. This more than doubled the amount raised in 2017. These funds will go a long way to providing scholarships and special projects for student organizations and additional donations continue to pour in.

Two NTCC students win Jack Kent Cooke transfer scholarships
Alicia Cantrell and Brenda Godoy, students at Northeast Texas Community College, are two of just 47 recipients of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation?s prestigious Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. This highly competitive national scholarship will provide these two local recipients with up to $40,000 annually for a maximum of three years to complete their bachelor?s degrees.

NTCC Art announces annual student show winners
The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department recently held its annual Student Art Show in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Students submitted their best work in a variety of media. The contest was open to all NTCC students, not just those enrolled in art classes.

Theatre Northeast to host showcase performances
The Northeast Texas Community College theatre department will host a Theatre Northeast Showcase April 26-29 at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The production will feature current students and Theatre Northeast alumni. The Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows will be held at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday matinee will be at 2:05 p.m. General admission tickets are $5, students 17 and under are $3 and senior citizens and NTCC faculty and staff are free with ID. Tickets will be available at the box office or you can call 903-434-8181 for more information.
Alicia Cantrell named Coca-Cola Academic Team Gold Scholar
Alicia Cantrell, a student at Northeast Texas Community College, has been named a 2018 Coca-Cola Academic Team Gold Scholar and will receive a $1,500 scholarship.
Students are nominated for the academic team by their college administrators. Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership, and engagement in college and community service.
A graduate of Mount Vernon High School, Alicia serves as President of the Phi Theta Kappa chapter on the NTCC campus and is a Presidential Scholar in Honors Northeast.
