Psi Beta launches Kindness Rocks project around campus

Have you noticed colorful painted rocks around campus? On September 18 and again on October 2, Psi Beta members and guests made Kindness Rocks!

“Kindness rocks are intended to inspire creativity and spread happiness. People of all ages find a rock, paint and decorate it with either pictures or quotes and then place them around an area for others to find” explained Solveig Strottman, Psi Beta Vice President.

NTCC's Phi Theta Kappa chapter receives Mellon Foundation Grant

Alpha Mu Chi, NTCC's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, recently received its fifth grant from the Mellon Foundation. The chapter will use the $1,000 to explore northeast Texas Folklore. The month of October is being nicknamed "Folk-tober," and each Monday in the month the chapter is showcasing a different aspect of the unique folklore and culture of the region. October 7 is the Choctaw Cultural Center Presentation, October 14 is M.J. Hayes local author and storyteller, October 21 is Bigfoot Booth, and October 28 is tales from the Northeast Texas Ezekiel Airship and Rural Heritage Museum.

Dr. Fulgham shares Annie McLean Moores Towler’s story at the East Texas Historical Association

Dr. Melissa Fulgham gave a well-received and well-attended presentation on “Annie McLean Moores Towler: The First Female President of a National Bank in Texas” on Friday, September 27, at the 62nd Annual Conference of the East Texas Historical Association in Nacogdoches, Texas.

NTCC partners with The Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute for mental health initiative

We are proud to announce that Northeast Texas Community College has partnered with The Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute to be part of the Minding College Minds Learning Community. This important initiative is designed to help better understand and address the unique mental health needs of community college students. 

CNA program graduates 23 students

Northeast Texas Community College recently celebrated the achievements of 23 graduates from its Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) program. Over the course of the six-week certification, students gained essential hands-on experience and classroom instruction, equipping them with the skills to provide high-quality patient care in healthcare settings. Emily Mikel, the program's instructor, guided the students through rigorous training, ensuring they are well-prepared for the workforce.

Culinary Arts to host Ristorante Lunch Buffet on October 10th

The Culinary Arts program at Northeast Texas Community College will host a Ristorante Lunch Buffet with the theme "Strangers in the night" on Thursday, Oct. 10th from noon to 2 p.m. (come and go). Tickets are $25 per person and the event will be held at the NTCC Culinary Arts School at 114 Jefferson Street in downtown Pittsburg.
