East Texas Men in Harmony to perform at the Whatley Center

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College will host a vocal performance by the East Texas Men in Harmony Saturday, Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m. This is the first of three shows in a special Sounds of Northeast Texas series highlighting talented musicians from the area.

The East Texas Men in Harmony is approaching its tenth year as a performing chorus. During this time, they have become one of the top choruses in the five-state Southwestern District of the International Barbershop Harmony Society.

Capitol Steps to perform at Whatley Center

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College will kick off its 25th anniversary season October 11 with a special presentation by Capitol Steps. They are sure to brighten up the final push to election day with their witty, hilarious political satire.


The Capitol Steps, put together by a group of former Capitol Hill staffers, puts the MOCK in democracy as they find humor in all aspects of American politics. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and all tickets are $30.

Lowe's employees lend a hand at NTCC

Team members from Lowe?s store 1802 in Mount Pleasant stopped by the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the Northeast Texas Community College campus this week to lend a hand with painting classrooms. Supplies for the renovation came from Lowe?s and the store donated community service time to help complete the project in time for the fall semester. Hoppock directs finale productions of The Odd Couple

Northeast Texas Community College Theatre Professor Douglas Hoppock will direct his final production on the on-stage theatre in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts later this month. For his grand finale before heading off to retirement, he will lead Theatre Northeast as they perform both male and female versions of Neil Simon?s†The Odd Couple.

The Odd Couple†will be performed on April 28 and 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Student Art exhibit planned

The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department will hold its annual student art show April 13-27 in the foyer gallery of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The exhibit will feature student work in photography, painting, ceramics, digital artwork, drawing and design. An artist reception will be held Tuesday, April 19 in the Whatley Center foyer at 2 p.m. The exhibit is open to the public Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Whatley Center to host Always...Patsy Cline March 19

† † † The popular musical†Always?Patsy Cline†is coming to the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College March 19. The show, sponsored by Texas Heritage National Bank, begins at 7:30 p.m.
