Grilled chicken spaghetti

Spring has “sprung” and we are busily getting our garden cranked up and growing at NTCC Sustainable Market Farm.  At our annual plant sale and yard sale at Springfest this Friday and Saturday we will be selling one of my most requested dishes.  For you lucky readers I am going to share in this issue of Farm Fashioned Recipes our Grilled Chicken Spaghetti Salad!

Thurman being sworn in

The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees swore in a new member at the regular meeting on Tuesday, March 26. Stephanie Thurman, of Mount Pleasant, was sworn into Place Five by former board member, Governor Bill Ratliff. She was appointed to serve in Place Five after Ratliff’s retirement in 2018 left it vacant.

Andrew Daniel

Northeast Texas Community College’s own Dr. Andrew Daniel will be joined by two members of his family for an instrumental trio performance on Sunday, April 7 at 2:30 p.m. at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Daniel, NTCC Professor of Music, will play guitar while his 16-year old son, André Daniel, performs the violin, and his mother, Sherry Daniel, accompanies on piano. They will be playing music from South America and Spain.

Lilly Haack, a sophomore at Northeast Texas Community College, was recently named a 2019 Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Hites Scholar. This is PTK’s most prestigious and largest scholarship, which provides $7,500 for Haack to continue her studies at a university.

Texas A&M University-Texarkana at NTCC and Communities In Schools are conducting a drive to collect donations of personal hygiene items and children's unisex athletic pants (youth sizes 6-8-10-12). Donations will benefit local families. Donations are being accepted through May 1 at the A&M-Texarkana at NTCC office in UHS. 

Eagle staff with awards

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagle staff recently attended the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association convention in Corpus Christi and brought home 25 awards including Overall Excellence in Division 5 and third place in Best of Show in Division 3. 

Alma Marquez receives award

The Northeast Texas Community College Adult Education Department recently learned that ESL (English as a Second Language) student Alma Marquez received the Texas Association for Literacy and Adult Education (TALAE) ESL Persistence Adult Learner of the Year Award.

Chesney Davis

Northeast Texas Community College recently learned that Chesney Davis is one of only 15 students nationwide to be named a 2019 Guistwhite Scholar. The honor comes with a $5,000 scholarship for baccalaureate studies and a commemorative medallion.
