Students interested in participating in the 2020 NTCC Work4College Program should plan to turn in their completed applications no later than April 15. It is available online at www.work4college.com.
Jacob Lambie, Executive Officer of Alpha Mu Chi, Phi Theta Kappa’s chapter at Northeast Texas Community College, recently completed his term as a Texas Regional Vice-President, but this was just the beginning of his leadership journey. Lambie has announced his campaign for Phi Theta Kappa Division II International Vice-President. This is the highest position of student leadership within the organization.
The Temple Masonic Lodge #70 in Mount Pleasant recently presented the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation with a check for $25,000. The funds will be used to establish an endowed fund that will continue to provide scholarships for NTCC students into the future. Half of the scholarships are designated for students in workforce training or the NTCC Work4College program and the other half are for general academic scholarships.
On Wednesday, Northeast Texas Community College announced it will extend spring break by one week for students due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. While college operations will resume in a limited capacity on Monday, March 23, the campus will remain closed to the public. Plans are in the works to move most courses online for the remainder of the semester.
Out of an abundance of caution regarding the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation, NTCC has made the decision to postpone the upcoming "Tapestry, The Carole King Songbook with Suzanne O Davis"concertthat was scheduled for Friday, March 27 in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Northeast Texas Community College’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, Alpha Mu Chi, recently attended the Texas Regional Convention in Abilene and returned with 20 awards. The chapter successfully campaigned for the Texas Region District III President position. This is an unprecedented feat for the chapter and college that will allow an elected representative to take part in leadership training, public speaking opportunities, and travel throughout the state.
Members of the Northeast Texas Community College Business Club recently presented a check for $500 to the NTCC Foundation. The donation will provide a business student with a scholarship for the 2020-2021 academic year. This is the second year the Business Club has given a scholarship.
