As most of you are probably aware, earlier this week Governor Abbott issued his Executive Order GA-36, which prohibits government entities from requiring or mandating individuals to wear face coverings.  In compliance with that order, effective immediately, NTCC will no longer require the wearing of face coverings on its main campus or any of its outreach centers.

After a year of virtual presentations facilitated by iPhones and YouTube, Northeast community poster judges, and NTCC students came back together in real time at the Whatley Foyer, Friday, 7 May, for the Thirteenth Annual McGraw-Hill Poster Contest.  This scholarly contest, sponsored this year by Santa’s Sweeties, a high-end sewing circle in Mount Vernon, McGraw-Hill Education Corporation, and Jerald and Mary Lou Mowery of Mount Vernon featured what many believed was the best visualization of scholarly work in the history of the conference.

Every semester full-time and associate faculty in NTCC’s Division of Humanities and Social Sciences can select an outstanding student, who is exceptional in some way. This semester, Psychology Professor Nicole Sutton nominated Crystal Warren.

Northeast Texas Community College will hold two spring commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 15. In-person attendance is very limited due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Northeast Texas Community College Rodeo traveled to Athens, Texas for the final Rodeo of the season May 7th and 8th. Trinity Valley Community College Served as the host of the event held at the Henderson County Rodeo Complex.

The Northeast Texas Community College Continuing Education Department will host its Kids Discovery College July 12-22 (Monday-Thursday). They are pleased to announce that classes will be offered face-to-face on the NTCC campus with extra COVID-19 safety measures in place. Classes are open to kids ages 8-16.

Northeast Texas Community College Baseball traveled to Tishomingo, Oklahoma for one last non-conference agame against Murray State College on Tuesday, April 27. NTCC would defeat Murray State 19-6  to bring home the win.
