The purpose of this academy is to prepare individuals to become MIG Welders. Throughout this academy, you'll learn about the equipment, processes and techniques needed to start your career as a production welder. There is a heavy focus on safety, attention to detail and learning the specific standards required by Diamond C Trailers. If you possess strong manual dexterity, are seriously interested in a career as a welder, and are commitment to excellence, then this academy is for you!

What Will You Learn?
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (1G, 2G, 3G, 4G)
- How to prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
- How to maintain, organize, and clean equipment and the work area.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of production welding processes
- Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.
- Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
- Must be able to see details at close range.
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
- Shows great attention to detail.
- Frequent exposure to odor, noise, dust, heat, cold and airborne particles.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent is required

- WLDG 1430 – Introduction to Gas Metal Arc (MIG) Welding

Frequently Asked Questions
For the Summer and Fall of 2024, scholarships will be awarded to those who are approved to participate in the program. From Spring 2025 moving forward, students will be responsible for tuition payment via Financial Aid process, scholarships, out-of-pocket, or other means.
The Process Welding Academy is taught on Northeast Texas Community College's main campus. There will be off-campus collaboration with Diamond C Trailers, so transportation will be needed.

The next 8 week cohorts will begin August 26, 2024 and October 21, 2024.
Classes will be Mon-Thurs from 8am – 5pm.
Attendance is very important due to the academy only being 8 weeks long. Limited excused absences are considered.
