The mission of Communities In Schools is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
Communities In Schools of Northeast Texas was established in 1989 in an effort to remove barriers that hinder at-risk students from being successful in school and in life. Communities In Schools has become the nation's leading dropout prevention organization, and the only one proven to both decrease dropout rates and increase graduation rates. We partner with thirteen school districts in Camp, Delta, Franklin, Hopkins, Lamar, Morris, Rains, Red River, and Titus counties.
Communities In Schools has identified The 5 Basics which are a set of essentials that we believe every child needs and deserves:
- A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult.
- A safe place to learn and grow.
- A healthy start and a healthy future.
- A marketable skill to use upon graduation.
- A chance to give back to peers and their community.
