For students who are interested in mass media and communication, the journalism program at Northeast Texas Community College is a great opportunity to receive a degree in communication while also getting hands-on experience in print and digital media. The journalism program at NTCC will help pave the way for careers in print media, news writing, layout and design, photojournalism, and digital media. Today's world is changing and the way society views and digests news is evolving as well.
The goal of the journalism program is to prepare students to transfer to a 4-year university and continue their studies in mass media and journalism or to enter the workforce in a communication-related field. Students will have the opportunity to participate in interviews and write feature, sports, entertainment, and editorial articles. In addition to covering a wide variety of stories, students in the program also develop skills in copy editing, layout and design, photo techniques, and mass media etiquette.
NTCC is also home to The Eagle News Media where students can produce content for The Eagle and Lagniappe, two award-winning student publications. Students have the opportunity to work with print, digital media, video and social media. Print publications include The Eagle, NTCC's student newspaper, and Lagniappe, the campus literary and art magazine. Along with The Eagle website, other digital media outlets include The Eagle Express newsletter and several social media platforms.
