Upward Bound of Northeast Texas Community College:
The Upward Bound program provides services and support to students preparing for college. We recruit 10th and 11th grade students each year and provide services until they graduate from high school.
We serve students from Chapel Hill HS, Daingerfield HS, Mt. Pleasant HS, and Pittsburg HS.
Activities that Upward Bound provides include:
Campus Meetings (at your high school campus):
- Career Exploration
- A variety of college readiness activities
Weekly Tutoring (at your high school campus):
- Academic tutorials in all subject areas
- EOC testing
- ACT/SAT preparation
- TSI/THEA testing
Meetings and Workshops (at Northeast Texas Community College):
- Assist with college admissions and Financial Aid
- Provide Career Information
- College Night
Summer Program (at Northeast Texas Community College):
- Live in the dorms for 5 weeks
- If eligible: Take college classes/Concurrent Enrollment/Dual Credit
- Upward Bound classes-Computer classes, foreign language, English, Math, Science, History, Engineering and electives
- Work-study positions to expose students to different careers
- Field Trips to visit different colleges or businesses
- In general, have a real life college experience
