We are just one week away from the Work4College application deadline! The Work4College Program is a great way for students to attend NTCC without acquiring debt and it provides a hands-on learning experience through working on campus during the summer. The application is available to fill out and submit online at www.Work4College.com.
Northeast Texas Community College Theatre is thrilled to invite each of you to their upcoming production of The 39 Steps, Abridged. The show is April 20 – 22 at 7:30 pm in the Whatley Center, with an additional matinee on April 22nd at 2:30 pm. The hilarious show is about an hour long and family friendly.
Northeast Texas Community College Rodeo Athlete Kent Sheldon was elected to the Student Director position for the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Southern Region for 2023-2025 Season. Kent will graduate this spring from NTCC and move on to Texas A&M University-Commerce to continue his Rodeo career.
Skylar Fondren, a Presidential Honors Scholar at Northeast Texas Community College, has been named a 2023 Coca-Cola Academic Team Gold Scholar and will receive a $1,500 scholarship. Skylar was named a Leader of Promise by Phi Theta Kappa in 2021 and has been very active in Honors Northeast, Phi Theta Kappa, and NTCC’s Journalism program.
Early giving is underway for East Texas Giving Day and the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation is asking for your support! While East Texas Giving Day isn’t until April 25th, you can give early online at www.easttexasgivingday.org/ntccfoundation. As of April 6th, more than 20 donors had already given over $6,500 to support NTCC!
The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts will bring Neil Berg’s 50 Years of Rock & Roll to its stage on Friday, April 14th at 7:30 p.m. This high-energy concert, sponsored by Guaranty Bank and Trust, will take you on a journey throughout the Rock & Roll era. With a cast consisting of both stars from Broadway's greatest rock musicals, as well as incredible Rock & Roll singers, Neil Berg shares the often unknown stories
Expertise has its own rewards. In the case of history essays at Northeast Texas Community College, the reward might be something greater than an ‘A’. For the eighth straight year, the history professors of NTCC will feature the Bonnie Spencer Awards for the best three research papers in non-honors classes. The first-place winner will receive $100, the second place, $50, and the third, $25.
The Northeast Texas Community College Business Club helped students in two area Head Start programs celebrate Easter this week. Students and faculty members, accompanied by the Easter Bunny, delivered Easter baskets filled with goodies to kids at Pittsburg ISD and Pewitt CISD.
The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees met for its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 28th. During the president’s report, Dr. Ron Clinton gave an update from the Texas Legislature. He said that both HB8 and SB2539 (companion bills proposing major changes in community college funding) were favorably received in two important Higher Ed Committee hearings last week.
On Thursday, March 23, 2023, 11 NTCC students were inducted into Psi Beta, the national honor society in psychology for community colleges. The candlelight Induction was presided over by chapter officers Jocelyn Castorena, Tommy Arredondo, and Nataly Morales. The speaker for the evening, Margaret Dwiggins, a doctoral candidate in the Educational Psychology program at Texas A&M University-Commerce, presented her original research on Smartphones, Learning and FOMO (Fear of Missing Out).
