The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles Softball team split with Eastern Oklahoma State College in a doubleheader on the road February 8th. Below are summaries from both games...
Game 1 - Loss against EOSC
- NTCC Softball lost to EOSC 14-6 on Saturday even though they once led by four runs.
- NTCC opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. Eagles first got on the board when Kyndal Yaross singled, scoring two runs.
- Huffman homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first for the Eastern.
- NTCC added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after mount pleasant local standout Conlee Zachry singled to center field, and Eastern committed an error, each scoring one run.
- Kiersten Finncannon hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the third for the NTCC Softball 2025.
- Eastern then scored three runs in the bottom of the third on a home run to right field by Pollet.
- EOSC flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 10-6. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to center field by Huffman that drove in three.
- Finncannon stepped in the circle first for NTCC Softball 2025. The right-handed pitcher allowed seven hits and eight runs (five earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking two.
- Yaross drove the middle of the lineup, leading NTCC Softball 2025 with two runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Zachry went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead NTCC in hits.
Game 2 - Win 9-2 against Eastern
- NTCC Softball 2025 defeated Eastern Oklahoma State College 9-2 on Saturday thanks in part to seven runs in the sixth inning. Local standout Morgan Hill singled, scoring one run, Gracie Brown was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Shae Stone drew a walk, scoring one run, Hill scored after tagging up, an error scored one run, and Kiersten Finncannon doubled, scoring two runs.
- NTCC Softball opened the scoring in the second after Kyndal Yaross hit a solo home run to left field.
- In the bottom of the second inning, eastern Oklahoma State College went back into the lead after Brown doubled to center field, and Rains grounded out, each scoring one run.
- Mount pleasant local LHP Casey Jones stepped in the circle first for NTCC. The starting pitcher surrendered seven hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking one.
- Eagles amassed 14 hits in the game. Brown led NTCC Softball 2025 with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Finncannon went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead NTCC Softball 2025 in hits. Yaross and Hill each collected multiple hits for NTCC Softball - the eagles also turned one double play in the game.
