Psi Beta launches Kindness Rocks project around campus

Have you noticed colorful painted rocks around campus? On September 18 and again on October 2, Psi Beta members and guests made Kindness Rocks!

“Kindness rocks are intended to inspire creativity and spread happiness. People of all ages find a rock, paint and decorate it with either pictures or quotes and then place them around an area for others to find” explained Solveig Strottman, Psi Beta Vice President.

Shea Taylor, Psi Beta President, suggested the idea and described how it might work, “You may see one or more of the Psi Beta rocks scattered about the campus. Think of them as good wishes to raise your spirits if you “find” one.  When you see a rock, enjoy the good wishes from it, then place it somewhere else on campus for someone else who needs a kind word or thought to find it”.

When asked if there would be another opportunity to paint rocks, Dr. Skaar responded, “Yes, we still have rocks and paint left. Plus, it is a great opportunity for students to meet and interact with faculty, administration, and staff. At the last paint session, members and guests painted with: Dr. Shirley Clay, Professor Emeritus and the first NTCC sponsor of Psi Beta; Dr. Andrew Yox, Director of the Honors Program at NTCC; Kim Irwin, Associate Vice President of Student Services; Mileah Hall, Professor of Fine Arts, Julie Ratliff, Professor of English, Dr. Drew Murphy, Professor of Chemistry and co-sponsor of Psi Beta, and Cindy Stansell, Directory of Mental Health Services on campus.
