Sometime after midnight last Friday night, the last of three vans returned to NTCC with Honors students, completing the second of two bi-annual culture/reward trips for this academic year.† This also was the 22nd†semester trip taken by Honors Northeast since it began in 2007.† According to Dr. Andrew Yox, Honors Director, there has been one decisive factor behind all of these trips: the generosity of Drs. Jim and Paula Archer, whose Lone Star Ranch straddles Camp and Upshur counties.† Other friends of NTCC have also contributed generously to make these trips possible, and to help incentivize, and encourage the student merit dynamic at the college.
This year the group went to Starbucks, hiked at the Heard Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney, shopped at Frisco?s Stonebriar Centre, received a private introduction to one of Texas? largest pipe organs at Stonebriar Community Church by organist, John Dill, and witnessed an Allen-Americans hockey game.
If read like a book, the picture above shows those who came:† Susana Perez (Student Success Coach), Morgan Martin, Madison Blood, Chesney Davis, Dr. Karyn Skaar (Honors Professor), Sebastian Martinez, Jordan Whelchel, Raegan Davis, Hannah Dickson, Leivy Zuniga, Jazmin Garcia, Warren Wu, Cassidy Watkins, Rhylie Anderson, Alicia Cantrell, Yami Zuniga, and Matthew Chambers (not pictured, Andrew Yox).
Honors Northeast will premiere its Mary Kay film, 16 February at 7PM in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at NTCC.† The program is also accepting† applications for the 2018-2019 school year.
