Over the past few months, Northeast Texas Community College?s Carroll Shelby Automotive Program partnered with Dallas attorney Rob Miller to transform a 1965 Mustang to a race car that is set to be driven in the 2015 La Carrera Panamericana Race in Mexico starting on Oct. 16.

Scott Wilhite, a student at Northeast Texas Community College, has been selected by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society to receive a $1,500 scholarship as the 2015 Dr. Mary Hood Texas Region Scholar.

A father of three children, Wilhite enrolled in college after being laid off from his job. A political science major, he earned a 3.92 grade point average at Northeast Texas Community College and became a member of Phi Theta Kappa. In addition to his work within the chapter, Wilhite took on a role coordinating a work scholarship program for NTCC†this summer.

The Northeast Texas Community College Continuing Education Department has a full slate of classes scheduled for this fall. These non-credit courses can be†taken for personal enrichment or for career training†purposes. Sign up is fast and there is no lengthy application process.
