Northeast Texas Community College finally took the field at home for the first time this season, but the friendly home field environment was not enough to get the Eagles passed Weatherford College. Weatherford defeated the Eagles 12-3 in game one and 12-0 in game two.
In game one, Weatherford took advantage of errors with timely hitting to power out to an 8 run lead in the first inning. The Weatherford pitcher was solid, keeping the Eagles off the scoreboard the first three innings and limiting the Eagles to just three hits. Kadi Downs, Pearl Perry and Madi Brown all three had hits it game one. Perry hit a two run homerun in the fourth to get the Eagles on the board and Brown followed with a solo shot in the fifth, but that would be all the offense the Eagles would get in game one.
Emily Cole started game one for NTCC before giving way to Averie Ayers for the final one and two-thirds innings.
In game two, the tough pitching from Weatherford limited NTCC to four hits and no runs. Pearl Perry had two more hits in game two and gunned down a runner to end the second inning. Weatherford singled to center field and the runner on second attempted to score, but Perry sent a laser to Madi Brown who tagged the runner out to end the scoring threat in the second inning.
Collyn Schuricht started game two and held Weatherford off for three innings before they started scoring runs in the fourth. The powerful Weatherford offense put up eleven runs in the fourth inning.
Kadi Downs would come in for the final out of the fourth inning and Averie Ayers pitched the final inning of game two as well.
NTCC will be off this week and has picked up a road game at Cisco Junior College on Monday, March 2nd.
