The Fall 2024 semester starts on Monday, Aug. 26th. Everyone at NTCC is excited to welcome both new and returning students. Below are a few tips to help students have a stress-free, successful first week at college:
- Visit the bookstore early: The NTCC bookstore will be very busy during the first week of classes. Save yourself time by ordering your textbooks online or stopping by before school starts. Don’t forget to pick up your school supplies and NTCC gear while you’re at it!
- Know where you are going: The campus is large and it can sometimes be difficult to find your classroom. Click here to view our campus map and don't hesitate to ask someone for help. NTCC staffers will be waiting to help you find your way bright and early Monday morning! Even better – stop by campus before school starts and do a walkthrough of your schedule anytime during business hours.
- Have your schedule ready: On a similar note, make sure you either print out or have a copy of your schedule on your phone. Not only will it be easier for you to check where you are supposed to go, it will also make it easier for staff to help point you in the right direction.
- Be on time (or early): It's always a good idea to give yourself plenty of time to drive to campus, get a parking spot and find your classroom. We always experience more traffic during the first couple of weeks of the semester, so plan accordingly. Your classes start at the published time, so it's a good idea to get there a few minutes early. Also, don't forget that FM 1735 is still closed between FM 4000 and Hwy. 49. The detour and Chapel Hill ISD school traffic may make the roads more congested.
- Say hello to your instructors: Whether you are in online or face-to-face classes, it is always a good idea to introduce yourself to your instructors. They are here to help and will welcome a chance to get to know you.
- Get a parking sticker: All students and employees are required to have parking permit on their vehicle. The good news is...permits are totally free and easy to get. Click here for more information about parking at NTCC.
Take it one day at a time: Just like with many things in life, your first time in college can be intimidating. Get plenty of rest and come prepared to learn. We promise you will feel like a pro by the end of the first week! If you find yourself struggling, check out our free Counseling & Wellness Center in BT 111.
