For the last sixteen years, students in select sections of Humanities and World Civilizations have had the opportunity to attend the Dallas Opera at the Winspear Opera House and visit Kalachandji’s restaurant and Hara Krishna Temple.
This year, students attended Puccini’s Tosca, one of the most performed operas in the world. With its unending flow of music and dramatic story line, the students were often at the edge of their seats. Students attended the pre-opera talk given by the orchestra conductor as well as the post-opera talkback with key members of the performance. Dallas Opera began with Maria Callas, the greatest diva of all time, headlining and has included debuts from such well-known opera singers as Placido Domingo.
Afterwards, the group made their way to Kalachandji’s Restaurant and Hara Krishna temple where they enjoyed the highly rated vegetarian and vegan options, eating in the mosaic courtyard with flowing fountain. Afterwards, they visited the temple to witness the evening service.
