Pictured: Carroll Shelby, who would have been 100 on January 11th, visited with NTCC automotive students in 2009. The Shelby Foundation continues to honor Shelby's commitment to local students by supporting the NTCC Automotive Program. Current students in the Shelby Program held a Chili Cook-off in his memory on his birthday.
The Carroll Shelby Student Auto Club would like to thank everyone who attended the Chili Cook-off to celebrate Carroll Shelby's 100th birthday on January 11th, 2023. A special thank you to those who provided the delicious chili: Rhett McCullough, Titus Regional Medical Center and the Chili Appreciation Society International. A shout out to the local businesses who donated items for the event: LalaPop’s, Hershel’s, Mt Pleasant Tire, O’Reilly’s, and ABC Auto Parts of Mt Pleasant and Pittsburg. Kudos to the chili judges for risking their taste buds: Mayor Abernathy, Judge AJ Mason and Kaymon Farmer. And a tip of the hat to Chef Reeves for the use of the NTCC Culinary School.
