The Northeast Texas Community College Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program recently announced that it has been awarded the maximum 10-year reaccreditation with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Continued accreditation means that the program meets or exceeds all requirements and that students who graduate from the program are eligible to sit for the National Physical Therapy Examination and practice as licensed PTAs.
“Reaccreditation is quite rigorous and our PTA team has worked diligently for almost two years to achieve this outcome. Not only did they earn the maximum number of years for accreditation, they did so without receiving any citations. This is a very rare and impressive accomplishment,” Dr. Marta Urdaneta, NTCC Dean of Health Sciences, said.
The re-accreditation process required the PTA faculty and staff to gather and assess detailed program data, coordinate an in-person CAPTE site visit and create a virtual visit. “We pride ourselves on offering a world-class program that gives graduates all of the tools they need to begin a successful career as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Receiving our 10-year re-accreditation affirms that we are achieving that goal and will allow us to continue providing quality instruction well into the future,” Wilson said.
