The Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) Board of Trustees met for its June meeting on Tuesday, July 11th after the regularly-scheduled June meeting did not achieve a quorum. Titus County Judge, Kent Cooper, was in attendance to swear in Russell East to the board.
East was appointed to Place 4 on the board in May after the resignation of Sid Greer.
“We are very pleased to welcome Mr. East onto the board to represent constituents from Morris County and we look forward to his leadership as our newest trustee,” Dr. Ron Clinton, NTCC President, said.
In his President’s report, Clinton announced that NTCC recently received word that it has officially achieved full accreditation status for another ten years by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission On Colleges (SACSCOC) . This is a major milestone for the college coming after an extensive two-year internal assessment process which culminated in a major report submitted to SACSCOC. The College was further reviewed by an on-site team of peer reviewers from across the SACCOC region last September to confirm NTCC’s full compliance with all SACSCOC accreditation standards.
“Reaccreditation is critical to all colleges and this process involved many hours of work from all areas of campus operations. We appreciate the dedication of everyone who contributed to this successful outcome,” Clinton said.
In action items, the board approved the consent agenda, the hiring of Edgar Torres as Assistant Men’s and Women’s Soccer Coach/Assistant Housing Director and Macy Russell as Coordinator of Employee Resources. In further action they released the Head Women’s Soccer Coach from her contract and approved an annual extension of the President’s contract.
The board held a separate special meeting to discuss the 2023-2024 budget after the regular meeting adjourned.
