Northeast Texas Community College is mourning the loss of one of its own this week as longtime employee Pat Tallant passed away suddenly on Sunday, Oct. 29th 2023. The NTCC Foundation has established a scholarship fund in her memory. “I was honored to work with Pat for many years and she served as executive assistant to the President’s office from the time I was appointed president until her retirement. She truly set the standard for professionalism and her institutional knowledge was critical to me, our Board of Trustees, and entire administrative leadership team during that transitional period. I cannot express how much she is missed by myself and everyone whose lives she touched at the college. Our thoughts and prayers remain with her family during this difficult time.” Dr. Ron Clinton, NTCC President, said.

Tallant was among the earliest employees of NTCC when she hired on in 1985 as a secretary. She left briefly in 1989 and 1998, but returned to NTCC both times. She worked in the continuing education department and was the college’s Public Information Officer for a number of years. She served as executive assistant to three college presidents – Dr. Charles Florio, Dr. Brad Johnson and Clinton. She officially retired from NTCC in 2021.
“Pat loved NTCC so much she couldn’t stay away. After her retirement, she soon rejoined the staff part time to assist us in the human resources office. She was one of those people who just jumped in and helped out wherever she could. She was a joy to work with and a dear friend. To say she is missed is an understatement,” Amy Adkins, Director of Human Resources, said.
Tallant is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Haylee Tallant, and grandsons Cooper and Brooks Tallant. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11th at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. There will be a visitation with the family beginning at 1 p.m. in the foyer of the First Baptist Church.
