Alpha Mu Chi, Northeast Texas Community College’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, recently attended the Texas Regional Convention in Irving. In addition to maintaining their five-star status as a chapter, Alpha Mu Chi successfully campaigned for the District III Texas Regional Vice-President position.
The chapter won first place for their virtual yearbook, using the theme of a children’s book. Judges consistently commented on the creativity and uniqueness of the yearbook. Chapter officers Victor Diaz and Fatima Fuentes were recognized at the state level for their outstanding work. The chapter was also recognized for their Honors in Action project about the power and importance of dance. Chapters campaigning for regional office put on a skit, as well as staffing a campaign booth and giving a campaign speech. The chapter’s skit showed off the attending members dance and color guard skills. Chapter Advisor Dr. Matthew Lampert was recognized with the Horizon Award for his leadership.
