The theatre department at Northeast Texas Community College is pleased to present A Night of Shorts…But Not the Bermuda Kind April 21-23 on the stage of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The production will include five short plays written and directed by Dr. Page Petrucka, NTCC Associate Professor of Theatre.
“I’ve written many plays of varying lengths, but my favorite is the 10-minute play. There’s something very special about a story that focuses on one thing, one issue, one moment in someone’s life; impactful but complete, never to be visited again,” Petrucka said.
There will be a 7:30 p.m. performance each evening and a 2:30 afternoon matinee on April 23. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students, military and senior citizens and free for NTCC students with ID. Advance ticket purchase is not required.
The cast for the evening will include Lexie Humber, Mylee Cronin, Persefany Rodriguez, Teresa Wooten, Linda Shaddix, Michael Vance and Zachary Strawbridge. Lexie Humber is the stage manager and Hope Kelly and Amanda Lange round out the crew. Steven Nelms manages lighting and sound design.
“The first four plays of the night are a few from my collection. They’re fun, poignant, heart-warming, and maybe a little bit absurd. But they are complete,” Petrucka said. “The final play is considered a one-act play. It’s a little bit longer, has more characters, and tackles a bit more than one small moment.”
