The Northeast Texas Community College 2021 Work4College Program officially kicked off last week as students and their families gathered for two orientation events. More than 80 students have been selected to participate in the program this summer. Around 30 of the students are returning from last summer.
“We continue to see a huge demand for this unique program and it is always exciting when we finally get to meet the students and get them ready to start work,” Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Executive Vice President for Advancement, said. “We are also pleased to have our new Work4College Director, Mason May, working full-time to keep the program running smoothly and efficiently.”
Work assignments, which can range from clerical tasks in student services to caring for plants and animals on the college farm, are currently being made. Students begin work on June 7.
In its eighth year of operation at NTCC, Work4College is a one-of-a-kind scholarship program designed to give students the opportunity to work during summer to earn money for college. While doing meaningful work on campus and learning important life skills, students are able to earn a paycheck and save for future classes at NTCC.
