Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) completed the three game sweep of Pratt Junior College on Sunday by taking game three of the series 12-5. The game was moved up to an 11:00am start to get ahead of the rains that afternoon. The Eagles (3-4) would score early and often to gain win number three of the season.
Six different Eagles would each have two hits to pace the offensive attack against the Beavers from Pratt Junior College. Cole Modgling got things going in the first when he reached base with a walk and would later score when the Pratt pitcher balked to plate Modgling with the first run of the game. Cody Cleveland would also score in the first inning to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
Pratt would answer back in the second inning and tie the game at 2-2, but that didn’t last long as NTCC took the lead back in the bottom of the second scoring two more runs. Pratt would add one run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, but the Eagles would not be denied the win. Nico Baumbach hit a homerun to left field in the fifth and then a big five run inning in the 6th put things away for NTCC. The Eagles 14 hits on the day were aided by 7 walks to give NTCC many scoring chances.
Justin Lambright got the start for the Eagles giving up just two runs on two hits and striking out one in his two innings of work. Jacob Rosales, Sawyer Smallwood, Tyler Jeans, Chance Bolter, and Kaleb Wisnoski would each see time on the mound in the win.
NTCC will be back in action February 14th and 15th at home against Highland Community College with a double header on Friday (2:00pm) and a single game on Saturday (12:00pm).
