Theatre Northeast, the Northeast Texas Community College student theatre group, will present a play for young audiences December 4-7 at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Several weekday matinees will be performed for school children and then there will be two performances for the general public on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2:05 p.m.
The students will perform The Marvelous Machine (The Inside Story of Our Insides) by John R. Carrol. This is an engaging children’s participation play that takes an imaginative trip through the human body. With an ensemble of NTCC students playing multiple characters; a forgetful brain, a grumbling stomach, a corny, vaudevillian pair of lungs, the main stage of the Whatley will come alive with fun and facts about our amazing bodies. Nutrition, emotions and valuable health tips are presented in an engaging, fast-paced production suitable for ages four to 11.
The cast and crew of The Marvelous Machine includes: Brandon Mallory, Chad Eugene Kennedy, Haley Marshall and Solveig Strottman of Pittsburg; Arielle Star Williams of Mount Pleasant; Cecily Bowman and Kryslin Keeler of Winnsboro; Koerth Ragsdale of Golden; Heather Martin of Chapel Hill; Jamie Smith of Gilmer; and Tahj McRae of Dallas.
General admission is $5, students, senior citizens and NTCC Faculty and Staff are $3, grade school children are $1 and NTCC students with ID are free. Reservations are not required to the weekend performances.
